Youth Worship Night

Event details

SUMMARY:

It has been our tradition for two consecutive years to have a youth prayer night for Laylat-ul-Qadr during Ramadan. This was one of those events in 2015. It was the first time the students experienced a fully immersive and interactive amal environment.

The amal started after the usual local mosque event. the days in hall was split in half and one half was dedicated to the youth. We then had a little speech competition on the topic of qualities of Imam Ali since it was his death anniversary. After the competition and listening to everyones unique impromptu takes on Imam Ali. We, moved onto the core of the event with the signature quran amal for the night but recited this time by the kids themselves.

Some of the elementary students enjoyed it so much that they couldn't wait for their turn to recite the dua which accompanies the quran amals.

After we had a Jeopardy style dua Jaushan Al Kabeer. Instead of having the kids sit through 200 aya of this very long dua. We split this dua in small little section that would be easily digested by the kids. The kids had to choose an aya of their choice relating to what they desire in life. They also had to give a little description or interpretation of what they got out of that verse.

Some of the kids did not want to leave at the end of the night because they enjoyed their experience so much.
