Walk to Karbala was a phenomenal event that turned out to be one of the best events of the year. As a group “ASA” we wanted to make an event in november to symbolize Imam Hussain's journey and the hardship he had went through. While brainstorming one of the my colleges were like “hey, what if we did an actual walk through karbala” when asa heard that we thought it was a great event.

 

    The big event was on November 19th 2016, we were not expecting a huge turn out. Everyone who volunteered and were part of ASA had to be at the center at 10 am sharp. Once we were all at the center we had to start decorating the rooms by putting in the tents and adding sound. We thought that 10 am was really early for setting up about 3-7 senses in each room with about 20 people. However, I’m glad we woke up that early because it probably wouldn't have turned out as good as it did if we did it later through the day.

 

    We had about 5 different show times they were from english to arabic and even urdu which was awesome. Also, the ways we laid out the rooms it followed the script. The rooms consisted of Mecca, Batn-E-Rumma, Sorat, Zuhasm, Karbala, and last Kufa.

 

    Aside from how the event was laid out, many people who came to see where very impressed. One of  the mothers from the asa committee said “Salam dear youth of ahlul bayt society, you did an amazing job last night with the interactive tour. The hard work you put into really paid off. It was so well done and perfectly executed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt so proud that we have such dedicated, talented, hard working youth. I know everyone else enjoyed it too! Thank you. We appreciate all that you do.” We even had people crying at the end because they never would have imagined something like this would come to life. The fact that someone from the masjid even said what we did was a “Million dollar event” brought all our tired faces into smiling ones.

 

    At the end while we were cleaning up, we all decided that we want to do a event like this every year hopefully next year it will be even more phenomenal and better.
