Beginning on Sunday, October 8 and running until October 29th, ASA collaborated with AhlulBayt School to hold a food drive during the month of Muharram. For the event, boxes were placed in every classroom and outside the main hall. A special lunch was served to the classroom that collected the most food items after Sunday School on November 12th. We asked that all items be Halal and nonperishable. Items were donated to Muslim Family Services to help food-insecure Muslim families in need. In order to take the varying number of students per class into account, number of items and overall weight were counted. The Level Two class won on both accounts, thus winning the pizza lunch. The students, teachers, and community members shared what they could and shared the love this Muharram.
