Hajj 2017

September 9, 2017

SUMMARY:

AhlulBayt Student Association, with the help of resident scholar Sheikh Mumtaz, held a Hajj simulation. Similar to the event "Walk through Karbala" administered by ASA in 2016, this event led youth and adults through the steps of Hajj. While many were unable to travel to Mecca for Hajj in 2017, ASA sought to bring Hajj to the community.

The event started off with registration, where everyone filled out a name tag. The Hajj group was given a brief overview of what Hajj is and why every Muslim goes on this pilgrimage. The group then departed from the United States and arrived in Madina. After visiting Masjid as-Shajara, Masjid an-Nabawi, and Mount Hud, the pilgrims received their Ihram or Hijabs. The group went to Mecca and completed Tawaf before visiting Safa and Marwa. Everyone gathered pebbles at Muzdalifah and threw the stones at the pillars in Mina. With over forty people in attendence, the three-hour long trip to Hajj took place both indoors and outdoors at AhlulBayt Center.

A special thanks to Sheikh Mumtaz for leading the the trip!
